First Council Meeting of the North Carolina ZJU Alumni Association

On August 3, 2012, the first Council meeting of the newly established ZJUAANC was convened by telephone, online, and in person at the FREEDM Center on the NC State University campus. Nine of the eleven council members participated.

The council elected and confirmed Xiu Aijun as Vice President, with responsibility for liaison with UNC and organizations such as CAFA. Council members Yin Fangfang, Zheng Naiquan, and Zhang Xinxin were assigned to coordinate activities in the Duke, UNCC, and RTP regions respectively.

The council reviewed the chapter bylaws. If no objections were raised within seven days, the trial bylaws would be formally adopted. Given limited immediate need, the council decided to defer the application for tax-exempt status for the time being.

After discussion, the council tentatively scheduled the first alumni BBQ of the 2012 fall semester for Saturday, August 25, 2012. The event would also serve as a welcome for new alumni (including those who had not yet joined the association). Full details were to follow in a formal announcement.
