Notice: ZJUAANC Will Not Officially Attend the 50th NCUAA Annual Convention

Dear Fellow Zhejiang University Alumni, Convention Leadership, and Respected Seniors:

Greetings.

The 50th Annual Convention and 50th Anniversary Celebration of the North America Zhejiang University Alumni Association will take place tomorrow in Silicon Valley. ZJUAANC President Xinyu Hu had previously designated me, in my capacity as Founding Board Member, Vice President, and Head of the California Station, to represent the ZJUAANC Board and our association at the convention.

We have just been informed that the organizing committee determined that because I currently reside in Silicon Valley rather than North Carolina, I am ineligible to represent ZJUAANC. This is the first time I have encountered such a policy. As guests respecting the host’s arrangements, we honor the committee’s decision.

Accordingly, we issue the following clarification:

ZJUAANC will not officially attend this annual convention. Any presentation or introduction of ZJUAANC by the organizing committee does not represent our official stance. I will attend solely in my individual capacity as a Zhejiang University alumnus.

The annual support provided by the North America ZJU Alumni Association to ZJUAANC is $200, which was raised through events I personally organized. Our North Carolina-based board members are occupied with heavy official duties and are unable to make the dedicated trip.

ZJUAANC has never ceased its community service simply because individuals are outside North Carolina. In 2022, we united 15 East Coast ZJU alumni associations to host the inaugural Metaverse Spring Festival Gala and established the East Coast 15-Alumni Alliance. In 2026, we formed sister alumni alliances with ZJU alumni chapters in Tennessee, Philadelphia, Rhode Island, and Florida to collaborate on events. Concurrently, we established strategic partnerships with the North Carolina Zhejiang Association and NACUAA North Carolina Chapter, while cooperating with North Alpha Post, Chinese Headline News, and South Carolina Daily. Professor Bailian Li of NC State University serves as our first Honorary Advisor, and Dr. Helen Chen serves as Honorary President.

Since our founding in 2012, we have continuously served alumni in North Carolina, across North America, and globally. Since late 2025, we have hosted free public AI workshops nearly every Saturday; tomorrow evening is Lecture 2 of the “VI AI Music Academy.”

ZJUAANC will, as always, uphold the university motto “Seeking Truth and Pursuing Innovation,” continuing forward alongside alumni, families, and our local neighbors.
