Bylaws (2012 First Edition)

Chapter 1 – General Provisions

Article 1
The North Carolina Chapter of the Zhejiang University Alumni Association in North America, abbreviated as “ZJUAANC” or “the Association,” is officially named in English as “Zhejiang University Alumni Association North Carolina Chapter.”

Article 2
The Association is a voluntary, non-profit, social organization formed by Zhejiang University alumni primarily from North Carolina and surrounding states. The legal representative is the current President of the Council. The Association is registered in North Carolina. Its official website is http://www.zjuaanc.org and official contact email is contact@zjuaanc.org.

Article 3
The purpose of the Association is to strengthen connections among ZJU alumni in North Carolina and surrounding areas, provide various services and necessary assistance, promote exchanges with the university in education, research, and culture, and uphold Zhejiang University’s motto of “Seeking Truth and Pursuing Innovation.”

Article 4
The Association is the North Carolina chapter of the Zhejiang University Alumni Association in North America.

Chapter 2 – Mission

Article 5
The primary mission is to unite and serve alumni in North Carolina and surrounding areas across all fields.

Article 6
Work scope includes regular alumni networking events, university liaison for professors/experts/entrepreneurs, receiving visiting delegations, and contributing to talent and investment attraction.

Chapter 3 – Membership

Article 7–11
Membership is open to Zhejiang University alumni who support the bylaws and voluntarily participate. Alumni definition includes graduates and faculty from predecessor institutions (Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University, Zhejiang Medical University) and other categories recognized by the university and alumni associations. Standard rights, obligations, and non-profit liability disclaimer apply.

Chapter 4 – Organizational Structure and Responsibilities

Article 12–16
The Council (Board of Directors) is the operating body. Council members are elected democratically for two-year terms (renewable). Departments include Finance, Information, Events, and Liaison. President and Vice Presidents are elected; the First Vice President typically succeeds the President. One-person one-vote and defined voting procedures govern decisions.

Chapter 5 – Supplementary Provisions

Article 17–18
Uncovered matters are handled according to law or Council resolution. These bylaws take effect upon adoption.
